Conventional NDT


NDT (Non Destructive Testing) plays a vital part in manufacturing, quality control and plant life management. It used in a wide range of industries including Aerospace, Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, Power Generation, Petrochemical, Transport and Civil Engineering.

Ultrasonic Inspection (UT)

UT uses complex electronic equipment. Any material which transmits mechanical vibrations can be tested. UT detects both linear and non-linear flaws and permits three dimensional interpretations. Evaluation is often difficult. The UT instrument converts electrical pulses into mechanical vibrations or waves. These waves travel across the tested specimen and reflect from flaws because of their different acoustic nature. The returning reflected waves are reconverted to electric energy and displayed as signals on a cathode ray tube (CRT). The position and size of these signals correspond to the position and size of the flaws.

Radiographic Inspection (RT)

Material density and its thickness set the limits of RT's usefulness. Internal flaws are RT's forte; its two dimensional views sometimes its drawback. RT uses penetrating radiation and works on the principle that denser or thicker materials will absorb more radiation and a sheet of radiographic film or image amplifier. A flaw presents anywhere within the specimen will absorb less radiation than the specimen itself. The flaw's presence and location will be indicated by an area of higher or darker exposure.

MPI-INSPECTION

Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) & DYE Penetrant Inspection (DPI)

The surface defect is difficult to be inspected using technology of RT or UT. Most of UT equipment have a dead zone area that could not inspect a defect that close to the surface. MPI & DPI give the solution to find more exact the surface defect.

Ultrasonic Test Phased Array (UT-PA)

UT-PA is an advanced technology of conventional UT. Working principle of the UT-PA is the incorporation of convensional radiography and UT. Phased Array Probe composed of multiple piezoelectic elements, each element will emit and linear scan. The advantages of UT-PA is safe, effective broad beam, multiple beam configuration, high-density, increase productivity.

Eddy Current Inspection (EC)

EC instrument can be small and portable, or large multi-channel devices. The method is used only on electrically conductive materials. An energized electric coil induces a magnetic field into the tested specimen. The fluctuating magnetic field generates an electric eddy current. This change is electronically analyzed to provide flaw severity or material condition information.

Rope Access Technique (RAT) is known as an acceptable methods to assist inspection activities at height and or difficult access. This method gives more assurance on safety performance, work volume capacity and wide range of accessibility and providing minimum impact on other simultaneous activities.
Referring to working at height, the risk of such activities are possible injury or fatality as a consequence of fall from height. Therefore, PT. Spektra Megah Semesta has become a full member of IRATA seen September 2013. IRATA International is recognized as the world's leading authority on industrial rope access. Established in the UK in 1988 as the Industrial Rope Access Trade Association, an increase in membership worldwide led to the name IRATA International to reflect this.
In carrying out this rope access work we use a standard procedure that is IRATA ICOP September edition, IRATA General Requirement and IRATA Bye Laws February 2012.
